Upcycling is a great way of transforming a tired forgotten garment into something fabulous! Charity shops are a great place to find items in need of some serious TLC, or you may even find some lurking in the back of your wardrobe! I was particularly drawn to the fabric this dress was made in, the beautiful bold print in this gorgeous colour way was crying out to be worn. Although a gorgeous dress, this style certainly wasn’t suited to me – in fact I think it’s fair to say it aged me by about 20 years! To give this dress a new lease of life I decided to detach the bodice from the skirt and it make it a fun, wearable garment, perfect for summer!
Step one | Unpick the bodice from the skirt at the waistband.
Step two | One the bodice and skirt are separate, topstitch the waistband of the skirt.
Step three | And voila – you’re done! Easy as one, two, three!
