Review: Toyota 34B Super Jeans

The first thing you will notice about this machine is the colour, uniquely black in design, it certainly stands out from others on the market. With a great range of stitches, both novice and experienced sewists will be able to control it. It’s specifically designed for working with thicker fabrics such as jeans, however as the presser foot barely moves higher than a regular machine, slotting thicker materials under the foot can be a challenge.

Featuring a built-in needle threader and a four-step auto buttonhole option, it provides crafters with all the basic necessities for home sewing. The stitch options also include blind hem, overlock, serpentine, decorative pattern among the usual straight and zig zag.

Instead of referring the manual on a regular basis, there is a user guide located on the front of the machine which lists useful reminders to help you while you sew. Priced £180*.

Why we love…

  • 34 stitch options
  • Drop feed
  • Top load bobbin
  • Built-in thread cutter

Our verdict:

On the whole this machine is good, but not spectacular. It’s stitch range is somewhat lacking to others in the same category and it doesn’t appear to live up to the expectations one would hope. Although some of it’s extra features may be of use to some stitchers, the book of useful reminders is simply a waste of time.
